Equity Bank Partners with MoneyGram to Ease International Money Transfers for Kenyans

Kenyans with loved ones abroad can now send money more easily, affordably, and reliably, thanks to a new partnership between Equity Bank and MoneyGram. The initiative, running from September to December 2025, introduces discounted international remittance services, giving Kenyans greater financial freedom to support family and friends overseas.

For years, Kenyans like Mary, a Nairobi-based mother with a son studying in Canada, have endured long queues, high transfer charges, and slow delivery times when sending money abroad. Delays often left her son struggling to meet urgent tuition and upkeep needs. Similarly, Tom, a guardian in Eldoret, faced uncertainty when sending money for his cousin’s medical bills in India, where unreliable services and exorbitant fees made the process stressful.

Such experiences mirror those of thousands of Kenyans who sacrifice to ensure their loved ones abroad can access education, healthcare, and daily sustenance. The demand for fast, affordable, and dependable cross-border money transfer services has only grown, particularly as more families support dependents overseas.

Equity Bank and MoneyGram are stepping in to change that. Through their joint campaign themed “Do More Across Borders”, the two institutions are offering international transfers at discounted rates, making it possible for both Equity customers and non-customers to remit money seamlessly to key destinations.

Among the highlights of the MoneyGram Send service are:

  • Affordable rates: Equity is offering a 50% discount on international money transfers, slashing costs from 4% to just 2%.
  • Speed and reliability: Funds are delivered promptly to cover urgent expenses such as school fees, healthcare, and upkeep.
  • Multiple payout options: Recipients can access money through mobile wallets, direct bank deposits, or cash pick-up at MoneyGram outlets abroad.
  • Wide global coverage: The service spans crucial corridors including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Canada, the USA, Australia, and South Africa.

With every shilling making a difference, this partnership gives Kenyans peace of mind, knowing their money will reach loved
