Inua Jamii Programme Revolutionizes Payments Nationwide with Mobile Money Agents
The State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs has embarked on the process of migrating all the Inua Jamil beneficiaries to the E-Citizen- Mpesa payment platform starting with the January 2025 disbursement.
Speaking on Thursday during a press briefing, Principal Secretary Joseph Motari noted that E-citizen is providing a platform for payments disbursement in collaboration with Safaricom where beneficiaries access funds via Mpesa Agents by dialling USSD code *222#.
“All beneficiaries are required to have registered Safaricom lines that matches with their ID card and will be required to activate their Mpesa accounts to receive their funds,” said the Motari.
Additionally,he clarified that the Inua Jamii beneficiaries who already have registered Safaricom lines, will need to ensure that their M-PESA is active and they are not required to purchase another line for the program.
“Beneficiaries without an M-PESA line can register at any Safaricom or M-PESA agent countrywide,” he added.
For further enquiries, Inua Jamii beneficiaries can visit County/Sub- county Social Development offices, County/Sub-county Children Services offices, County Disability Offices or call inua jamii toll free line 1533.
