Kenya’s paralympic delegation heads to Delhi, India, for the World Championships from September 27 to October 5, with top officials confident the team will deliver medals and set the pace for qualification to the Los Angeles 2028 Games.

Speaking to the press on Friday 18th at Moi international sports centre the president of Kenya National Paralympics committee,Mr. Ronald Milare said the competition will be a critical pathway to LA 2028. “We are prepared for the world. So expect good things. We believe that we will do the country proud and bring back a bag full of medals,” he said.

Kenya National Paralympic Committee Secretary General Stanley Mutuma echoed the optimism, praising government support and calling for greater corporate sponsorship.

“We thank His Excellency President William Ruto and the Ministry of Sports for the support, because preparing and taking a team of this size abroad is costly. We also call upon corporates to walk this journey with us and support these hardworking athletes,” he said.

The Kenyan squad consists of 24 athletes and 10 support staff, combining seasoned competitors and young talent. They are training across several venues, including the Kipchoge Complex in Kapsabet, the Kenya Prisons grounds, and the University of Nairobi, under the supervision of a technical bench.

Athletes have voiced confidence ahead of the games. Shot putter Gadja Twitty said training this year had intensified compared to past seasons.

“This World Championship is different. My target is to surpass every level,” he noted.

Another athlete, preparing for his first world event, said: “It will be a great experience just to be there and compete with some of the best athletes in the world. I hope to run a time I’ve never run before.”

Team manager praised the unity and determination in camp, noting the athletes’ bigger dream is not only medals in Delhi but also qualifying for LA 2028. “This team is disciplined, respectful and full of integrity. They believe in themselves, and we trust God to guide us as we chase victory,” she said.
