Equity Bank Retains Top Spot as Kenya’s Most Valuable Brand in 2025

Equity Bank has once again emerged as Kenya’s most valuable brand, according to the 2025 Brand Finance Kenya 20 report, marking the second consecutive year the bank has claimed the top position. The institution recorded an 8 percent increase in brand value to KES71.3 billion, driven by robust net interest income, a broad customer base, and consistently high levels of customer trust and engagement.

The 2025 rankings reveal the continued dominance of Kenya’s banking sector, which contributes over half of the total brand value in the top 20 list. Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and Co-operative Bank of Kenya followed closely behind Equity Bank, securing third and fifth places respectively, with KCB’s brand value rising by 9 percent to KES54.8 billion.

Safaricom retained its second-place position with a modest 0.5 percent increase in value to KES58.3 billion, propelled by Kenya’s fast-paced digital transformation. M-Pesa, its mobile money platform, continues to perform strongly, reflecting increasing demand for secure digital financial solutions.

Meanwhile, beer brand Tusker recorded the fastest growth among all brands, surging by 67 percent in brand value to KES9.6 billion. The brand also became Kenya’s strongest, earning a near-perfect Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 97.1 out of 100, owing to its widespread consumer appeal and post-pandemic market resurgence.

Other notable mentions include I&M Bank, which saw a 38 Percent value jump to enter the top ten, and Kenya Airways, which rose 8.5 percent in brand value to KES7.0 billion but slipped to tenth place.

Overall, the 2025 rankings reflect renewed consumer confidence, innovation across sectors, and economic resilience, underscoring a branding landscape increasingly defined by trust, relevance, and market responsiveness.
