Bolt, Absa Bank Kenya Empower 100 Drivers with Financial Literacy Training in Mombasa

At least 100 Bolt drivers in Mombasa have benefitted from a financial literacy training organized by Bolt in collaboration with Absa Bank Kenya, aimed at promoting financial stability and independence among drivers on the platform.

The training, part of a nationwide financial literacy initiative, focused on equipping drivers with essential money management skills, including budgeting, saving, and managing daily cash flow.

With the majority of drivers earning daily through mobile money and cash, the program seeks to help them stay financially resilient and plan for both immediate and long-term financial goals.

Dimmy Kanyankole, Bolt’s General Manager for Kenya and Tanzania, underscored the importance of the partnership, noting that the initiative reflects the company’s dedication to empowering its driver-partners.

“Drivers are the backbone of our platform,” Kanyankole said. “Empowering them with real-world financial knowledge is key to their long-term success. This collaboration with Absa Bank Kenya supports our ongoing commitment to provide resources that help drivers make better financial decisions.”

Elizabeth Irungu, Head of Absa Asset Management Limited, emphasized the role of financial literacy in strengthening gig economy workers’ independence.

“We believe financial inclusion starts with knowledge and the right partnerships. By working with Bolt, we aim to instill sound financial discipline and support the growth ambitions of drivers across the country,” she stated.

This initiative is part of Bolt’s broader strategy to deliver value beyond daily earnings. In addition to financial literacy, the company continues to invest in welfare support, vehicle financing, and other programs that enhance the overall well-being of its driver community.

The training also aligns with wider socio-economic goals of building financially healthy communities amid ever-changing economic conditions.
