Kenya Airways Clinches Four Top Honours at 2025 World Travel Awards
Kenya Airways (KQ) has cemented its reputation as a continental aviation powerhouse, securing four prestigious accolades at the 2025 World Travel Awards Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony held on Saturday at Johari Rotana in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
For the fourth consecutive year, KQ was lauded across multiple categories, winning Africa’s Leading Airline 2025, Africa’s Leading Airline – Business Class 2025, Africa’s Leading Airline Brand 2025, and Africa’s Leading Inflight Magazine 2025 for Msafiri.
The awards spotlight KQ’s unwavering focus on operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and innovative service delivery.
The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, are recognised globally for identifying and celebrating excellence across all sectors of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. The awards draw participation from around the world, with nominees ranging from national tourism boards and airlines to luxury hotels and travel agencies. The WTA employs a rigorous online voting process, where industry professionals, media, and consumers cast their votes for the best in various categories.
Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and CEO Allan Kilavuka attributed the recognition to the loyalty of customers and the dedication of more than 4,000 employees.
“These awards are a reflection of the immense trust placed in us by our customers, and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team,” Kilavuka said. “They reaffirm our commitment to offering reliable service, elevating our onboard experience, and sustaining the legacy of being the Pride of Africa.”
Kenya Airways is currently retrofitting its Boeing 787 fleet to enhance passenger comfort and has achieved an On-Time Performance rate of 76 percent. The airline’s Msafiri inflight magazine continues to champion authentic African storytelling and culture.
Looking ahead, KQ is set to launch direct flights to London Gatwick on July 2, increasing travel convenience and strengthening trade ties between East Africa and the UK. The airline also plans to roll out a five-year fleet renewal strategy, introducing 30 new aircraft and expanding inflight connectivity.
With sustainability at the core of its operations, KQ aims to achieve net-zero ground operations by 2030. Initiatives include adoption of pyro-diesel and expansion of bottled water plant solutions at all operational bases.
The World Travel Awards honour outstanding achievements across the global travel sector, with Kenya Airways once again standing out as a trailblazer in African aviation.
