Huawei Cloud Showcases Big Data and CodeArts to Accelerate Kenya’s Digital Future
Nairobi, Kenya, September 4, 2025 – Huawei Cloud has reinforced its commitment to Kenya’s digital transformation with the hosting of the inaugural Huawei Cloud TechWave Kenya Day in Nairobi. The event, themed “Innovate Now, Ignite the Future”, brought together over 120 senior leaders from government, finance, media, e-commerce, and ICT sectors.
Opening the forum, Frank Shi, Managing Director of Huawei Cloud Kenya, said the time for bold technological investment is now.
“The best time to develop Cloud and AI is now. Huawei is proud to have been in Kenya for 27 years, and we are here to build a smarter, more connected future together,” Shi remarked. He highlighted Huawei’s long-term strategy of transitioning from cloud-native to AI-native systems, embedding artificial intelligence at every level of the cloud.
Huawei Cloud, which serves over 2,000 industry customers and 800 global partners, is extending its expertise to Kenya by working with local enterprises, developers, and institutions.
The conference featured a series of keynote addresses and demonstrations showcasing how Huawei Cloud solutions are unlocking business value. Timothy Oriedo, CEO of Predictive Analytics Lab, outlined how Big Data, AI, and DevOps are driving intelligent transformation in fintech, agriculture, and logistics.
From Huawei’s global product team, Rex Xiao, Vice President of the PaaS Product Department, unveiled CodeArts, an all-in-one DevOps platform integrating 28 tools for unified workflows, distributed builds, and automated testing. Xiao emphasized its benefits: improved efficiency, stronger security, and intelligent automation.
Adding a business perspective, Ishaq Kassam, Chief Commercial Officer at FinSense Africa, stressed the importance of DevSecOps in delivering secure, digital-first strategies. He noted that practices like one-click deployment and security by design are key to innovation and operational excellence.
Real-world success stories further illustrated impact. Anthony Miano, Huawei Cloud Senior Solution Architect, shared how a Philippine internet company achieved a tenfold boost in R&D efficiency using CodeArts. Meanwhile, David Sanchez Plaza, Huawei Cloud’s Chief Solution Architect for Data Analytics, introduced the Lakehouse architecture, a hybrid model that merges data lakes and warehouses for real-time analytics and AI development.
The event concluded with a live demo by Kevin Kipruto, Huawei Cloud Senior Solution Architect, showcasing an e-commerce application powered by Huawei Cloud’s PaaS and DevSecOps services.
Looking ahead, Huawei Cloud pledged to deepen partnerships, nurture local talent, and co-create solutions.
“We are not just providing technology. We are building ecosystems and enabling innovation for Kenya and Africa’s future,” Shi affirmed.
