SGA Security Embraces E-Mobility with Launch of Electric Response Fleet in Kenya
In a groundbreaking step towards green innovation, SGA Security Kenya has partnered with Electric Transits Africa (ETA) to introduce electric vehicles (EVs) into its security alarm response fleet, becoming the first security firm in the country to make such a move.
The initiative aligns with SGA’s long-term sustainability strategy, combining operational efficiency with environmental stewardship. The new EVs will support SGA’s rapid response services while significantly reducing its carbon footprint.
“We are proud to be the first security firm in Kenya to adopt electric vehicles in our operations,” said Lucas Ndolo, SGA Kenya’s Country Manager. “This is more than just a fleet upgrade it’s a tangible step toward building an eco-conscious future for both our company and the communities we serve.”

About Electric Transits Africa
Electric Transits Africa (ETA) is a mobility solutions provider focused on enabling the transition to electric transport across Africa through tailored EV offerings, infrastructure, and technical expertise. ETA is on a mission to transform mobility in East Africa by making electric vehicles accessible, reliable, and affordable. With a tailored focus on the region’s unique needs, they offer end-to-end e-mobility solutions that include the leasing & maintenance of premium EVs and providing strategically located charging infrastructure.
Electric Transits Africa, a leading player in East Africa’s e-mobility space, will provide both the vehicles and technical support to ensure seamless integration. ETA Co-Founder and CEO, Wout van Blommestein, hailed the project as a pilot phase that is expected to scale in the near future, marking a shift towards clean, energy-efficient solutions across all SGA operations.
Jules Delahaije, Chairman and CEO of SGA Security Group, emphasized that the move aligns with the group’s adoption of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles. “This excellent initiative fits into our broader sustainability goals and demonstrates our commitment to a cleaner, more resilient future,” he stated.
The initiative was also lauded by the diplomatic community. “This collaboration between two Dutch-affiliated firms is a milestone for green mobility in Kenya,” said H.E. Henk Jan Bakker, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. H.E. Peter Maddens, Belgium’s Ambassador, added that the project is “a remarkable step toward net-zero emissions and proof that sustainability can be embedded into business operations.”
Data from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) shows a 41.1 percent increase in electric vehicle adoption in Kenya in 2024, driven by supportive government policies and private sector momentum. UNEP’s Head of Sustainable Mobility, Rob de Jong, called SGA’s adoption of EVs “a powerful demonstration of how private sector leadership can accelerate the shift toward sustainable transport.”
With the transport sector responsible for about 25 percent of Kenya’s carbon emissions, and 60 percent of air pollution in Nairobi, the move by SGA marks a bold stride toward a cleaner, healthier urban environment.
