The strong and growing ties between Kenya and Germany were once again affirmed during the ongoing international business forum in Nairobi, with a clear call for enhanced cooperation between the two nations.

Dr. Matthias Leder, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Gießen-Friedberg, Germany, expressed his admiration for Kenya’s dynamic economic potential and vibrant youth population. He emphasized that Kenya holds a strategic position for future partnerships with Germany.

“This is my second time participating in the German-African Business Summit, and each visit deepens my appreciation for the strong relationship between our countries,” Dr. Leder said. “I am here with my wife, Marina, and our main goal is to build bridges bridges between Germany and Africa, particularly Kenya.”

Dr. Leder revealed that Kenyan President William Ruto is expected to participate in a major international B2B conference titled “The World Meets in Gießen”, scheduled for May 20–22 in Germany. President Ruto is set to be a panelist at the event, which aims to bring together businesses from across the globe, including Africa, Brazil, China, India, Turkey, and the United States.

“This is not about making money,” Dr. Leder stressed. “The entry fee is very affordable. What we want is to strengthen global connections and provide business people especially from small and medium enterprises with the opportunity to expand.”

Dr. Leder’s wife, Marina, who represents Brazil, also echoed his sentiments, adding that she was impressed by Kenya’s level of education and the warmth of its people.

“I believe Brazil and Kenya can develop very strong business ties, especially in agriculture, commodities, and construction,” she said. “We are working with key partners including Mr. Henrique Obama, who is actively involved in developmental initiatives in Africa.”

She emphasized that the summit presents an opportunity not only for Kenyan entrepreneurs but also for government officials and investors from across the continent to connect with global counterparts.

“The world is looking at Africa. Countries like Kenya, Nigeria, and Côte d’Ivoire have huge potential,” she said. “Let’s take this opportunity to grow together.”
