Kenya Airways and Safarilink Launch Seamless Safari Travel Partnership
Kenya Airways (KQ) and Safarilink Aviation have signed a new one-way codeshare agreement aimed at transforming access to Kenya’s premier safari destinations.
The partnership allows Kenya Airways’ international customers to book both their global flights and onward domestic safari connections under a single ticket, promising a seamless, more convenient travel experience.
Through this collaboration, KQ’s extensive global network will now link to two daily flights servicing nine key airstrips across the Maasai Mara, as well as Amboseli, Nanyuki, and Samburu.
“This partnership exemplifies smart innovation, bridging Kenya Airways’ global reach with Safarilink’s expertise in last-mile connectivity to key safari destinations,” said Allan Kilavuka, Kenya Airways’ Managing Director and CEO.
“Together, we are optimizing aircraft use, reducing ground delays, and offering our guests greater flexibility and smoother journeys. By improving access to these remote areas, we are also boosting local economies and conservation efforts, given that tourism is the heartbeat of Kenya.”
The codeshare deal removes the need for separate bookings and simplifies travel for tourists seeking Kenya’s renowned wildlife experiences. Leisure travel accounted for 44.2 percent of Kenya’s tourist arrivals in 2024, underlining the strong demand for accessible safari adventures.
Safarilink CEO Alex Avedi lauded the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to join forces with Kenya Airways to offer a truly seamless journey to some of Kenya’s most iconic safari destinations. Our fleet of Cessna Caravans and Dash-8 aircraft is perfectly suited for quick and efficient access to remote airstrips, ensuring travelers spend less time in transit and more time in the wild.”
Speaking at the launch event, Kenya Airways Chief Commercial and Customer Officer Julius Thairu emphasized the country’s strong tourism appeal.
“Kenya’s reputation as a world-class safari destination continues to draw visitors from around the globe,” he said. “By offering a single-ticket solution with Safarilink, we are responding directly to the needs of today’s travelers who prioritize efficiency and reliability.”
The partnership marks a key milestone in Kenya Airways’ broader growth strategy, enhancing its market competitiveness and strengthening ties with travel trade partners.
