Siaya County will host its first international trade and investment conference from October 15 to 17, 2025.
Governor James Orengo said the county government, in partnership with the national government and private sector players, is determined to make the event a success. President Dr. William Ruto is expected to preside over the opening on October 16, while ODM party leader Hon. Raila Odinga will close the forum on October 17.
Speaking to the press on Monday in Nairobi, Governor Orengo said preparations are progressing well and key stakeholders have already confirmed participation.
“And we saw the need to come and brief our leader, our party leader, and our leader, Right Honorable Raila Odinga, on our level of preparedness. And so far, we are moving strongly towards the achievement of that trade and investment conference. Courtesy of our leader, Raila Odinga, we secured the attendance of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Kenya, who is going to be presiding over the opening of the conference on the 16th,” Governor Orengo stated.
He further noted that the county had received significant backing from financial institutions and business partners.
“Our partners in the business sector, banks, and other traders in Siaya and outside Siaya are coming in with the level of support that are unimaginable. We therefore welcome, through you, everybody who can come and attend that three-day international trade and investment conference,” Governor Orengo said.
On his part, Hon. Odinga said such initiatives are crucial in boosting county-level growth through investment.
“This is just another investment conference. As you know, we’ve attended other conferences in other counties. There was one in Mombasa. There was also one in Kakamega. There was one in Homa Bay the other day. And this is something to be encouraged, because our counties only grow by attracting investment in the counties. That is when we are going to have that spin-off effect of growth and development in our country. We need to encourage our people to save and invest,” Hon. Odinga said.
