Two Brothers Found Dead in Eldoret as Family Appeals for Support

A family in Kipkaren Estate on the outskirts of Eldoret is mourning the loss of two brothers who were found dead at their home in a tragedy that police are investigating.

Authorities said the two men, aged 31 and 18, were discovered on the same day in what investigators believe were separate incidents. Police said inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the deaths are ongoing.

Their mother, Melisa Namwendwa, said she had left her sons at home before attending a church service.

When she returned, she was unable to get a response from inside the house. She sought assistance from neighbors, who forced the door open and found the two brothers unresponsive.

The deaths have left the family devastated.

Namwendwa said both sons had experienced mental health challenges. She added that she is also caring for another son who is living with mental health difficulties associated with substance use.

The bodies of the two brothers were moved to the mortuary at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where postmortem examinations are expected to be conducted as part of the investigation.

The family is appealing to well-wishers for financial assistance, saying it needs about Sh500,000 to cover funeral expenses.

The brothers’ sister, Marion Amollo, said the family is unable to meet the burial costs on its own and appealed for support from members of the public.

Police have not released further details as investigations continue.

If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of self-harm or suicide, reaching out to a trusted family member, friend, mental health professional or local emergency services can be an important first step toward getting help.
