Chepsaita Cross Country Set for December 6, Draws 10,000 Athletes

This year’s edition of the prestigious Chepsaita Cross Country is scheduled for December 6, under the theme “Running for Education.”The annual event is expected to attract more than 10,000 athletes, reaffirming its place as one of Kenya’s top community-driven races.

Speaking during a press briefing in Turbo Constituency, race patron Farouk Kibet said the event continues to play a crucial role in supporting education for vulnerable children.

He revealed that the initiative is currently sponsoring over 22 school-going children who were at risk of dropping out due to lack of school fees.

Kibet noted that many needy learners have benefited from the race over the years and announced that this year, two outstanding winners will be rewarded with a trip to Florida.

He also issued a stern warning to individuals engaging in malpractice or activities that may compromise the integrity of the race, saying their days are numbered. Kibet added that teams from the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) and Nairobi are working tirelessly to ensure the event’s success.

Meanwhile, Barnabas Korir from Athletics Kenya confirmed that registration has been officially closed after the three-week window lapsed, in line with Athletics Kenya regulations.
