County Leaders and NITA Forge United Front to Empower Youth Through Industrial Training

County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) for Education and Training from all 47 counties converged at the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) Athi River Centre to affirm their shared commitment to advancing skills development across Kenya,a move towards empowering Youths.

The high-level forum brought together county leaders and national stakeholders to bolster collaboration on industrial training, a key pillar in Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). NITA’s Acting Director General, Ms. Theresa Wasike, lauded the strong county turnout, calling it a testament to the collective will to equip youth with skills for economic growth and job creation.

“NITA is committed to leveraging every opportunity to build lasting partnerships that will accelerate our mission,” she said. “Together, we can unlock new areas of collaboration that will drive inclusive development.”

Carolyn Rutto, Chairperson of the Industrial Training and Strategy Committee, echoed the call for unity. “The presence of county representatives underscores the urgency and shared purpose in strengthening our industrial training systems,” she said, expressing confidence in the forum’s long-term impact.

Aden Noor Ali, Chair of the National Industrial Training Board, emphasized the Board’s focus on inclusivity and quality. “Through strategic partnerships at county, national, and international levels, we aim to extend training opportunities to underserved communities,” he said, referencing NITA’s 2023–2028 Strategic Plan.

In a speech  read on behalf of the Labour PS Shadrack Mwadime by Labour Secretary Administrator Herman Shambi, Shambi  applauded NITA’s curriculum reforms and the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program.

“RPL is a game-changer for the informal sector, promoting dignity and employability. With a target of 420,000 assessments by October 2025, counties must step in to drive this transformation,” he urged.
