A fake work-from-home recruitment message promising KSh 8,000 per day has been highlighted as part of an ongoing anti-phishing awareness campaign aimed at protecting Kenyans from online fraud.

The deceptive message claims that no experience is required and asks applicants to pay a one-time KSh 999 activation fee before they can begin earning.

Cybersecurity awareness advocates have warned that such offers are designed to exploit job seekers, especially those looking for flexible online employment. They stress that genuine employers do not ask candidates to pay registration or activation fees before offering work.

The campaign encourages members of the public to carefully verify job advertisements, avoid sharing personal or financial information with unknown individuals, and report suspicious messages to the relevant authorities or service providers.
