Equity Bank Backs Murang’a Investment Conference with Sh15M Sponsorship
Equity Bank has been unveiled as the title sponsor of the inaugural Murang’a Investment Conference 2025, following the signing of a Sh15 million partnership deal between Equity Group CEO Dr. James Mwangi and Murang’a Governor Dr. Irungu Kang’ata.
The high-profile event, scheduled for June 13–14 at Thika Greens Golf Resort, aims to position Murang’a County as Kenya’s next industrial hub. Themed “Unlocking Murang’a as an Industrial Hub,” the conference will highlight the county’s diverse investment opportunities in agro-processing, manufacturing, healthcare, housing, education, and technology.
“Equity is not just sponsoring this conference we are investing in the future of the people,” said Dr. Mwangi. “This is about unlocking potential, attracting capital, and transforming lives through enterprise.”
Governor Kang’ata outlined the county’s investment-friendly incentives, including thousands of acres of land earmarked for industrial development, some within Export Processing and Special Economic Zones with tax benefits.
“We are strategically located near Nairobi and Thika, offering easy access to raw materials and markets. Investors will enjoy expedited licensing and a ready labor force,” the governor added.
Key projects set to attract investors include the 1,300-acre County Aggregation and Industrial Park, SME parks, the Gikono Landfill project, Mariira Farm, and cultural heritage sites such as Mukurwe Wa Nyagathanga.
The Equity-Murang’a partnership builds on ongoing collaborations to uplift the local economy through MSME financing, agribusiness support, youth and women empowerment, and climate-smart agriculture.
Governor Kang’ata noted the event’s national importance: “With Equity onboard, we’re not just marketing Murang’a we’re catalyzing Kenya’s next phase of industrial growth.”
Murang’a’s strategic location, robust agricultural value chains, and pro-investment policies continue to position it as a rising magnet for domestic and international capital.
