HRMPEB records highest candidature as 2,094 sit April 2026 exams
The Human Resource Management Professionals Examination Board (HRMPEB) has announced the results of the April 2026 CHRP and CBET examinations, with the Board recording the highest number of candidates in a single examination series since its establishment.
A total of 2,094 candidates sat for the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP), CBET Diploma and Craft Certificate examinations conducted between April 1 and 10 across 16 centres countrywide. The figure represents a 14 per cent increase compared to the December 2025 examination series.
According to the Board, female candidates accounted for the majority of the candidature at 1,620 candidates, representing 77.36 per cent, while 474 male candidates represented 22.64 per cent.
HRMPEB said the growing number of candidates reflects increasing demand and confidence in professional HR qualifications in Kenya and beyond.
The April 2026 examinations marked the final sitting under the Old CHRP Curriculum as the Board fully transitions to the revised curriculum introduced under its reforms.
A total of 222 candidates sat examinations under the old curriculum, with the Board reporting an average pass rate of 98.81 per cent. Under the revised curriculum, 1,538 candidates sat for examinations, recording an average pass rate of 94.27 per cent.
The Board noted that HR Management Information Systems, Performance Management and Productivity, and Strategic Management for HR Practitioners recorded the highest mean scores under the revised curriculum.
Meanwhile, 249 candidates sat for the CBET Diploma examinations, an 8 per cent increase from the December 2025 series, while 85 candidates sat for the Craft Certificate examinations.
HRMPEB also announced several reforms aimed at making HR certification more accessible and flexible. These include the expansion of examination sittings from two to three annually, introduction of part certificates, and the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway targeting professionals with at least 15 years of experience.
The Board further said it has partnered with accredited universities to roll out a dual certification programme allowing students to pursue CHRP certification alongside university degrees.
In addition, HRMPEB introduced an exemption for the Industry Based Research Project (RCHRP 19) for holders of postgraduate qualifications in Human Resource Management.
The Board said students who had not completed examinations under the old curriculum would automatically transition to the revised curriculum in line with approved policies and guidelines.
HRMPEB also reaffirmed its commitment to integrity, fairness and transparency in the administration of professional examinations.
