MURKOMEN ASSURES OF SECURITY DURING ELECTIONEERING PERIOD, DEFENDS GOVERNMENT’S RECORD AND VISION
Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has reassured Kenyans of the Government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security as the country enters the election year.
The CS called on Kenyans to support leaders who embrace peaceful, issue-based campaigns and urged politicians to conduct themselves responsibly.
“Remember, elections come and go. I want to encourage all of us to support leaders who are engaging in peaceful elections,” Murkomen said.
He asked ppoliticians from all sides to go about their meetings peacefully and called on those holding divergent views to stay away from rallies organized by leaders they do not support.
Drumming support for Kenya’s new development vision: ‘Beyond Vision 2030’, the CS rallied Kenyans and leaders across the political divide to unite in shaping Kenya’s long-term development trajectory, urging them not to subject the vision to the electoral cycle.
“Beyond 2030 Vision cannot wait for the election because, no matter who is elected, the country must have a guiding star for us to dream big as a country,” he said.
Taking aim at the opposition, Murkomen challenged political leaders to present their performance records before campaigning for other positions, rather than always pointing fingers at the government.
“Put your CV on the table. Tell us what you achieved for the two years you worked with the President,” he challenged former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, in Machakos during the 61st Graduation Ceremony of Scott Christian University.
He commended the institution for its contribution to education, skills development and national transformation.
He said the government is investing in the skills and human capital and reforming higher education financing to ensure no Kenyan child is denied educational opportunity.
He said no government has done more in the education sector than the Ruto administration in just three years.
“In just three years, we have recruited more than 120,000 teachers, delivered 23,000 classrooms and are constructing 1,600 laboratories to support CBE, TVET enrolment has more than doubled to 718,000, giving hundreds of thousands of young Kenyans access to practical, industry-relevant skills,” he said.
