UDA Expresses Confidence After Strong Showing in Recent By-Elections

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Hassan Omar has expressed confidence in the party’s growing political influence following victories in recent by-elections, saying the results reflect continued public support for President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Speaking during a press briefing at the UDA headquarters on Friday after the Emurua Dikirr, Endo and Porto by-elections, Omar thanked UDA supporters and coalition partners for backing the party in the contests.

He said UDA had continued to perform strongly in by-elections across the country, citing previous wins in MCA, parliamentary and senatorial seats. According to Omar, the victories demonstrate that the ruling party remains politically competitive despite criticism from opposition leaders and negative campaigns on social media.

Omar accused some opposition politicians of promoting divisive politics and ethnic mobilization instead of focusing on development and policy issues. He maintained that UDA would campaign on its development record and government programmes ahead of the next General Election.

He said the government’s agenda focuses on affordable housing, healthcare, infrastructure development and economic transformation, adding that the administration was committed to improving the livelihoods of ordinary Kenyans.

The UDA Secretary General also defended President Ruto’s recent international engagements, including the Africa Forward Summit, saying they had strengthened Kenya’s position in regional and continental development discussions.

Omar further called for stronger African economic integration, arguing that African countries should invest more in local industries, financial institutions and regional infrastructure projects to reduce reliance on foreign capital.

On the rising fuel prices, Omar attributed the increases to global supply disruptions linked to international conflicts and logistical challenges affecting fuel imports. He said the government had introduced subsidies and tax measures to cushion Kenyans from sharp price hikes.

He added that despite economic challenges, the government had ensured stable fuel supply through agreements with Gulf suppliers under the Government-to-Government fuel import framework.

Omar also dismissed opinion polls predicting declining support for the ruling coalition, insisting UDA remained well-organised and confident of securing victory in the next General Election.

The UDA official urged young people to continue participating in elections, saying the turnout witnessed in recent by-elections showed growing interest among youth voters in national governance and development issues.
