St. George’s University Hosts Medical Information Session in Botswana

St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, recently held an insightful information session in Gaborone, providing prospective students and parents with a detailed overview of its medical programs, student support services, and career prospects.

The session featured a live Zoom presentation by Marios Loukas, Dean of the School of Medicine at SGU, who outlined the university’s approach to medical education and research while offering a glimpse into student life in Grenada.

Bradley Wade, Regional Director of Recruitment, Africa, emphasized the significance of the event, noting that it allowed attendees to gain firsthand knowledge of SGU’s four-year MD program and extended MD tracks.

“It was a great opportunity to connect with students and alumni in Botswana, who shared their experiences and insights. Botswana remains a vital part of SGU’s international community, given the number of doctors who have trained with us,” he said.

A panel discussion featuring current SGU students and alumni shed light on the academic journey, clinical training, and post-graduation experiences.

Attendees also received valuable guidance on the admissions process, including interview preparation strategies.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, where participants engaged directly with SGU representatives. A hands-on demonstration introduced attendees to basic suturing techniques, led by an SGU faculty member.

With over 127 SGU graduates from Botswana and 45 current students, SGU continues to support aspiring medical professionals in the region as they embark on their healthcare careers.
