EPK Boosts Education in Nandi with ICT and Science Labs
Eastern Produce Kenya (EPK) has reinforced its commitment to quality education by commissioning a state-of-the-art Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) lab and three science laboratories in Nandi County.As part of its social investment initiatives and support for the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), EPK unveiled a fully equipped ICT lab at Taboiyat Senior Secondary School and three science laboratories at Chemomi, Siret, and Kaputi Junior Schools.
The facilities, valued at KShs 7 million, aim to enhance digital literacy and science education for local learners.With this latest contribution, EPK’s total investment in education has now surpassed KShs 26 million in the last eight months.
The company has also channeled over KShs 1 million since 2024 toward special needs education, providing instructional materials and classroom furniture to Kibabet, Nandi Hills Township, and Lelwak Primary Schools.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, EPK Company Director Leah Kibii Chirchir emphasized the firm’s dedication to inclusive learning.
“We are committed to fostering access to quality education, particularly in STEM subjects, to equip learners with critical thinking and problem-solving skills from an early age,” she said.
Tinderet MP Julius Melly, who presided over the event, lauded EPK’s efforts in bridging education gaps and enhancing learning opportunities for students.
In addition to infrastructure development, EPK has expanded its scholarship program to support four more students, including one with special needs, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to seven. This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) on equitable quality education.
Chirchir reaffirmed that investing in education is central to EPK’s mission of fostering social stability, improved livelihoods, and long-term economic growth.
“Education is our investment in the future. By enhancing learning opportunities, we are laying the foundation for a prosperous and empowered community,” she noted.
EPK’s continued investment in education in Nandi County underscores its role in strengthening STEM education and ensuring inclusive learning opportunities for all students.
