Qatar Charity Brings Eid Joy to Thousands of Kenyan Families with Meat Distribution
Thousands of families in Kenya are celebrating Eid al-Adha with renewed joy and gratitude, thanks to a large-scale meat distribution initiative by Qatar Charity.
Fatuma Hassan Mohammed, the Qatar Charity organiser in Kenya, led the launch of the distribution campaign in Kibra, Nairobi.
Speaking during a press briefing, she said the charity had slaughtered 10,000 sheep targeting 40,000 households across 19 towns in 15 counties. In Nairobi alone, 4,500 sheep are being distributed in low-income areas such as Kibra, Kawangware, Korogocho, Tasia, Mihango and Athi River.
“Eid al-Adha is a time of sacrifice, reflection and unity. We are here to ensure that every family, regardless of faith or background, can celebrate this special holiday,” said Fatuma. “Each family receives about two kilograms of meat. This is a huge relief, especially now when the cost of living is so high.”
Qatar Charity, a global humanitarian organisation based in Doha with over 60 field offices worldwide including 36 in Africa focuses on social protection, relief, and income-generating programmes. In East Africa, its presence includes Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania.
Residents in Kibra expressed deep appreciation. “This is the first time we’ve received meat from Qatar Charity,” said Kemsa Juma, a mother of four. “We’ve been struggling, but now my children will enjoy Eid with full stomachs.”
Another resident, Amina Kaleha, shared her gratitude: “They remembered us. May Allah bless them more.”Fatuma urged fellow Muslims and Kenyans to extend similar kindness. “Eid is about spreading love and compassion. If you slaughter, remember your neighbour.”
The distribution will continue for four days, reaching more counties including Mombasa, Mandera, Kisumu, Lamu, Garissa, and Nyamira.

This is such a heartwarming initiative by Qatar Charity. At a time when many Kenyan families are struggling with the high cost of living, distributing meat to over 40,000 households is not just generous,it’s lifesaving. Special thanks to Fatuma Hassan Mohammed and the entire team for ensuring low-income areas like Kibra, Kawangware, and Korogocho are not left behind during Eid al-Adha. This is true humanity in action. May more organizations follow this example of compassion and inclusivity. 🙏🏾🇰🇪🇶🇦
