Public Warned Over Fake Remote Job Scams

Kenyans have been warned to remain vigilant against phishing messages offering fake remote employment opportunities.

The warning is part of an anti-phishing campaign aimed at protecting job seekers from online fraudsters who target people searching for work.

One message circulating online promises users a data entry job from home with earnings of up to KSh 5,000 daily. The message then asks applicants to click a link and submit their email login details to activate their accounts.

Cybersecurity experts warn that such requests are a major red flag because genuine employers do not require applicants to surrender personal login credentials to secure employment.

Members of the public have been urged to verify job offers through official company websites and avoid clicking suspicious links or sharing passwords.

Those who encounter suspected online fraud are encouraged to report the matter to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The campaign urges Kenyans to verify before clicking and protect their personal information.
