Mutinda blitzes KUSF 400m as Miriam shines in Eldoret

National 400m champion George Mutinda stamped his authority at the Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF) National Games with a commanding victory in the men’s 400m at the University of Eldoret.
Fresh from representing Kenya at the World Championships, the University of Embu athlete clocked 46.50 seconds to claim the title with ease, underlining his readiness for the season ahead.
Mutinda, a fourth-year criminology student, left Kenyatta University’s Collins Kipchirchir trailing in second place, while Mount Kenya University’s Elijah Kutit completed the podium.
“This was my first race of the season after the World Championships. I feel ready now and I came here to motivate the teams,” said Mutinda.
Maseno University’s Angela Miriam was equally dominant in the women’s 10,000m, powering to gold in 43:33.76 despite strong winds at the track.
Kibabii University’s Daisy Cheptoo finished second, while Maseno teammate Anastacia Lubala took bronze.
“I’m happy to win at national level. The conditions were tough but this victory motivates me to work harder,” said Miriam.
Maseno’s strong showing continued as Evanson Kipkirui won the men’s 5,000m, while Kibabii University’s Rooney Wayne sprinted to the men’s 100m crown. Kenyatta University’s Elizabeth Wekesa claimed the women’s 100m title.
The KUSF National Games continue to light up Eldoret as universities battle for supremacy.
