Tuko.co.ke Launches Humanitarian Awards to Celebrate Changemakers Across Kenya
Tuko.co.ke, one of Kenya’s leading digital news platforms, has unveiled the Tuko Humanitarian Award a new initiative aimed at recognizing and celebrating individuals who are making meaningful contributions to their communities across the country.
The awards seek to shine a spotlight on unsung heroes whose selfless acts are transforming lives at the grassroots level. Through this initiative, Tuko.co.ke hopes to not only acknowledge their efforts but also inspire others to become agents of change within their own communities.
Rachel Nyaguthie, Head of the Human Interest Desk at Tuko.co.ke said that Tuko Humanitarian Awards are about recognising selfless individuals who make a lasting impact on the lives around them.
“By highlighting their stories, we hope to encourage more acts of service and community-driven change.”she added.
The initiative features compelling stories of the winners, showcasing the real-life impact of their efforts. The 6 Categories under the awards include,Environmental and Sustainability Award which honours efforts to protect and restore the environment,Gender Advocate Award – Recognising individuals working to promote gender equality and empower women and girls,Grassroots Impact Award which Celebrates those effecting real change at the local level.
Other categories include Innovation in Humanitarian Solutions Award – Highlighting creative approaches to solving community challenges,Young Humanitarian Award – Acknowledging the efforts of youth making a difference and Healthcare Hero Award specifically for those in the health sector who go above and beyond to serve their communities.
Amongst the six winners respectively include,Anita Sonia,Harriet Afandi,James Ouma, Humphrey Muchuma, Kahii GA Cucu and Richard Mwangi.
