The Nairobi Hospital Board Vows Stability Amid Leadership Shake-Up and Ongoing Investigations
The Nairobi Hospital Board has reaffirmed its commitment to uninterrupted service delivery and institutional integrity, even as it grapples with internal challenges and ongoing investigations.
Speaking during a press conference held at the hospital’s amphitheatre on Tuesday, Board Chair Dr. Barcley Onyambu reassured the public that the facility remains focused on its core mandate of delivering high-quality healthcare.
“Confidence in leadership is essential, particularly in an institution as pivotal as The Nairobi Hospital,” Onyambu said.
Additionally, he noted that recent reports regarding governance and integrity are isolated and do not reflect the broader direction of the hospital. The Board remains united under a strong leadership team and guided by shared values.

CEO Felix Osano echoed the sentiment, stating that the hospital continues to take firm steps to address emerging challenges while safeguarding its reputation and patient care.“

The Board has recently undergone changes aimed at strengthening governance and enhancing strategic oversight.
According to Onyambu, the addition of new board members with diverse professional backgrounds is part of a broader effort to drive operational efficiency and institutional excellence.
These developments come amid heightened scrutiny following a probe launched by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), which began with a raid at the hospital. The probe raised concerns over the handling of sensitive patient data.
However, the High Court has since issued a stay order on the investigation and granted anticipatory bail to several board members. The hospital has reiterated its full cooperation with authorities while assuring stakeholders of its commitment to protecting patient confidentiality.
In recent months, The Nairobi Hospital has also faced internal wrangles, including disagreements over doctor suspensions and broader governance issues circumstances that have prompted calls for reform and improved leadership accountability.
Despite the turbulence, Onyambu expressed optimism about the hospital’s trajectory. “We are confident that the steps being taken will restore confidence and secure the hospital’s long-term future. Most importantly, our dedicated staff continues to provide uninterrupted care to all our patients.”
