Smart Applications Clinches ISO 9001:2015 Certification, Eyes AI-Driven Health Innovations Across Africa

Smart Applications International Limited, a trailblazer in digital healthcare technology across Africa, has been officially awarded the ISO 9001:2015 certification in recognition of its quality management systems and customer-centric innovation.

Speaking during a press briefing, Group Managing Director Harrison Muiru lauded the achievement as a milestone affirming the company’s commitment to operational excellence and impactful healthcare solutions.

“This quality certification validates our trust, innovation, and unwavering pursuit of digitizing healthcare across Africa,” he said.

Operating in 12 countries, Smart’s solutions including biometric smart access, virtual mobile apps, and ERP platforms have transformed over 8,000 health facilities by improving convenience, efficiency, and transparency across the healthcare value chain.

Muiru also emphasized Smart’s integration of AI to enhance service delivery under the new ISO-aligned systems. “Our platform uses AI to match patients with specialists in real-time and support doctors with triage tools that shorten treatment cycles,” he noted. The AI-powered systems are built to ensure continued innovation, a core requirement of the ISO certification.

Chief Executive Officer Isaiah Mosiori said Smart has revamped its internal production processes to align with ISO standards. “From solution development to testing and client delivery, we’ve implemented quality-focused procedures to ensure efficiency and meet client expectations,” he said.

Head of Business Assurance ,Ndolo Kioko from certification body SGS confirmed Smart’s compliance with all ISO 9001:2015 requirements, commending the company for its alignment with global quality benchmarks. “This is a culmination of solid management practices. Continuous audits will follow to ensure sustained adherence,” he added.

The certification marks a significant leap for Smart as it continues to scale its healthcare innovations across borders, delivering seamless access through digital infrastructure and reaffirming its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 3 good health and well-being.
