Mudavadi says Community Health Promoters Key to Universal Health Coverage
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has described Community Health Promoters (CHPs) as the backbone of President William Ruto’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.
Speaking during a Community Health Workers Empowerment Programme in Kiminini Constituency, Kitale, Mudavadi said the government’s vision of achieving Universal Health Coverage cannot be realized without the critical role played by Community Health Promoters at the grassroots level.
He said the government is committed to strengthening the capacity of CHPs through continuous training to equip them with the skills required to operate modern medical equipment and deliver quality healthcare services. He added that the government will also provide improved tools and equipment to enhance their efficiency and ease their work.

Mudavadi commended the Community Health Promoters for their contribution to disease surveillance, noting that they have screened more than 200,000 people for Ebola, with no confirmed cases recorded.
He urged the promoters to remain vigilant and continue supporting the government’s efforts to keep Kenyans healthy through early disease detection, health education, and preventive healthcare services.
