Mancha strikes Gold as Chipchirchir takes bronze in tactical Eugene thriller

Athletics Kenya Youth Director Barnabas Korir has congratulated Josphine Sembeyo Mancha and Caren Chepchirchir for their outstanding performances in the women’s 1500m final at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene.

Korir commended the two Kenyan athletes for their composure and determination in a highly tactical and dramatic final that featured unusually slow opening laps, congestion, contact, and a fall before the pace intensified in the closing stages.

Mancha maintained her composure amid the chaos before unleashing a decisive surge to secure gold in 4:16.73, holding off a strong challenge from the United States.

Chepchirchir also delivered a determined performance to claim bronze in 4:17.50, completing a double podium finish for Kenya.

Korir said the performances were a source of immense national pride and a powerful inspiration to the next generation of Kenyan athletes.
