Kipchoge Keino nears completion ahead of Mashujaa day

Preparations are in top gear at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, as the region gears up to host this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations on Tuesday, October 20.

The national celebrations will be jointly hosted by Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet counties, with construction and upgrade works at the stadium nearing completion ahead of the national event.

The upgraded facility, with a seating capacity of 15,043, is expected to provide a modern venue for athletes and artists to train, compete and showcase their talents.

The investment is also expected to strengthen Eldoret’s reputation as the City of Champions while enhancing Kenya’s capacity to host major sporting competitions and cultural events.

Beyond the national celebrations, the stadium is expected to create opportunities for young people to nurture their sporting and artistic talents, opening up pathways to employment and sustainable livelihoods.

The completion of the project marks a significant step in efforts to improve sports infrastructure in the North Rift region, which has produced some of Kenya’s most celebrated athletes.
