The Kenya Electricity Generating Company(KenGen) will host the third KenGen Sustainable Energy Conference (SEC 2026) from November 24 to 27 in Olkaria, Naivasha bringing together investors, financiers, energy producers and project developers from around the world.

Speaking during the conference’s media launch in Nairobi, KenGen Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Eng. Kibet Ronoh said the meeting would help turn Africa’s renewable energy potential into viable projects.

“SEC 2026 is designed to move the green energy investment conversation from opportunity to execution,” Ronoh said. He added that the conference would bring together investors, financiers, utilities, project developers and businesses to advance the continent’s clean energy agenda.

The conference will be held under the theme “Powering Africa’s Green Industrial Revolution,” with discussions focusing on mobilising investment, developing renewable energy projects and expanding partnerships to support industrial growth.

KenGen expects more than 1,500 participants from over 80 countries. The conference will target more than 200 investors, 40 financing institutions, 100 utilities and power producers and 100 exhibitors.

The discussions will also cover carbon trading and strategic partnerships with participation expected from government officials, regulators, development finance institutions and companies seeking cleaner energy sources.

According to KenGen, bringing the stakeholders together will help connect project developers with investors and lenders, addressing challenges that often prevent renewable energy projects from securing financing and reaching implementation.

The conference will be held in Olkaria, a major geothermal energy hub in Kenya where delegates will have an opportunity to learn about the country’s geothermal development and explore opportunities for further investment in renewable energy.

Participants will also be introduced to the KenGen Green Energy Park, an initiative intended to attract industries and businesses seeking reliable renewable electricity for their operations.

Ronoh said the conference would showcase how investments in Olkaria had supported energy development and created opportunities for industrial growth.

“Our guests will experience firsthand how strategic investments have driven growth in Olkaria,” he said. He added that the Green Energy Park would create opportunities for enterprises seeking reliable renewable energy solutions.

The conference will provide a platform for investors, energy companies and governments to explore partnerships aimed at expanding clean energy development and supporting economic growth across Africa.
