Kenya’s U20 team ready for World Championships in Oregon, says AK official

Kenya’s Under-20 athletics team is ready to challenge for top honours at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Oregon, United States, after completing its final preparations, Athletics Kenya Youth Development Committee Chairman Barnabas Korir said.

Korir, who met the athletes and officials in the United States, said the squad had shown determination and discipline ahead of the global championships.

“I had the opportunity to interact with the team in the USA, and I am encouraged by their determination, discipline and focus,” Korir said in a statement.

“The athletes and officials are fully prepared and committed to delivering exceptional performances on the world stage.”

Kenya has traditionally been among the strongest nations at age-group athletics championships, particularly in middle- and long-distance events, and will be seeking another successful campaign against the world’s leading junior athletes.

Korir wished the team success as it prepares to represent the East African nation on the international stage.

“We wish Team Kenya the very best as they proudly represent our country,” he said.
