Twenty-seven Kenyan youth have been flagged off to Dubai to take up jobs in the construction and hospitality sectors under the government’s Kazi Majuu initiative.
The flag-off, presided over by State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Principal Secretary Esther Mworia in Nairobi is part of efforts to connect graduates with international job opportunities.
Speaking during the event, Mworia urged the youth to represent the country well and to uphold discipline, professionalism and good conduct as they begin their new careers abroad.
“I encourage other young Kenyans to join TVET institutions to acquire hands-on skills, which will open doors for them to work abroad,” she said.
Through the programme, TVET graduates are linked to overseas labour markets in partnership with foreign recruitment agencies.
According to the department, another 84 youth are currently awaiting travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for employment.
Meanwhile, 22 young people from the Coast region are already working on Viking cruise ships, with 44 more Kenyans expected to join them by the end of the year.
The department added that its November 2026 Ukulima Majuu recruitment drive is ongoing as it works to place more Kenyans in jobs abroad.
To ease the transition, the government has also partnered with Consolidated Bank to support trainees with travel logistics to their destinations.
