Kanoti Rail Against Government Failures, Call for Youth Empowerment and Accountability
Democratic National Alliance (DNA) Party leader Godfrey Kanoti and Secretary General for Jubilee Party Jeremiah Kioni issued scathing criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration during the Umoja Summit Party delegates convention, decrying widespread corruption, youth unemployment, and a failing healthcare system.
Kanoti, in a passionate address, painted a grim picture of the ordinary Kenyan family’s struggles to educate their children in the hope of securing a better future only to see them end up jobless or taking menial jobs.
“Parents sacrifice everything for their children’s education, but the government believes these graduates are only fit to clean trenches or serve in homes,” he lamented.
He accused the government of abandoning the youth and ignoring their plight. “Nobody sees young people anymore Gen Z, millennials, even younger ones there’s hopelessness everywhere,” Kanoti said.
Citing last year’s youth-led protests, he warned that the youth are losing faith in leadership and are ready to demand accountability.
Kanoti also criticized what he described as the commercialisation of public healthcare, citing the controversial SHIF (Social Health Insurance Fund), formerly NHIF.
He questioned its effectiveness, saying patients are turned away or forced to pay deposits despite having valid insurance cards. “How can we run hospitals like businesses? Kenyatta Hospital has ‘private weeks’ where access depends on your wallet,” he said.

He called for transparency in how health funds are managed and for an overhaul of the entire health financing system. On the issue of governance, Kanoki accused the current administration of promoting a system where public resources benefit a few.
“Corruption is poison in the pot. The youth are being enslaved by a system that doesn’t serve them,” he declared, urging the government to restore dignity and purpose to public service.
Jeremiah Kioni, who also spoke at the event, echoed Kanoti’s sentiments. Representing the Jubilee Party, Kioni described the country as being at a crossroads.
“Healthcare is in crisis, education is underfunded, and corruption is rampant,” he said.
He accused the government of neglecting its mandate and focusing on politics and personal gain rather than public service.
“We must reject a regime that prioritizes self-preservation over service delivery,” Kioni urged, highlighting how support for essential services like school meals and education bursaries has drastically declined.
Kioni also accused the government of undermining multi-party democracy and turning Parliament into a rubber stamp. “Instead of being a check on the executive, Parliament is being used to push token-driven politics,” he said.
Both leaders called on Kenyans, especially the youth, to remain vocal and vigilant. “We must not be silent. Silence allows injustice to thrive,” Kanoti said, adding that the DNA party would continue to amplify the voices of ordinary Kenyans and fight for a future that offers opportunity, justice, and dignity for all.
Their united message was clear: the current regime has failed, and it is time for a new vision anchored in integrity, accountability, and youth empowerment.
