Homecare brands SoSoft and ACE were at the centre of a training and empowerment programme for cleaning and laundry professionals held in Eldoret as part of efforts to improve skills and service standards in the sector.

The training focused on modern laundry techniques, proper fabric care, stain removal and the correct use of homecare products, equipping participants with practical knowledge to improve efficiency and expand their income opportunities.

The initiative was supported by HACO Industries Kenya Limited in partnership with Mama Fua App Kenya, bringing together cleaning and laundry professionals popularly known as Mama Fua for hands-on learning aimed at strengthening livelihoods in the growing cleaning services sector.

Speaking during the training, HACO Industries Home Care Category Manager Joan Chege said the programme reflects the company’s commitment to empowering communities and supporting small-scale entrepreneurs.

“At HACO Industries, we recognize the important role that cleaning and laundry professionals play in households across Kenya. Through our partnership with Mama Fua and the support of our SoSoft and ACE brands, we aim to provide practical training and tools that empower these entrepreneurs to improve their services, grow their businesses, and increase their income opportunities,” said Chege.

The training was delivered by Cleaning School Kenya, which provided participants with practical insights on best practices in fabric care, hygiene standards and efficient cleaning solutions for both household and professional environments.

Participants were also taken through financial literacy sessions aimed at helping them better manage their businesses and ensure sustainability beyond the training.

A representative from Mama Fua App, Stephine Nguta, said partnerships such as this play an important role in strengthening the cleaning services sector while improving livelihoods for workers who depend on the industry.

“Empowering cleaning professionals with the right skills and tools not only improves the quality of services delivered to customers but also creates sustainable opportunities for individuals and families who rely on this sector for their livelihoods,” said Nguta.

The Eldoret training forms part of broader efforts to promote skills development, professionalise the cleaning services industry and support sustainable economic opportunities for workers across Kenya.
