DNA Unveils Hon. Joab Manyasi as Candidate for Malava By-Election
The Democratic National Alliance (DNA) has formally announced Hon. Joab Manyasi as its flagbearer in the upcoming Malava Constituency by-election. The announcement was made during a ceremony held at the party’s headquarters in Karen, Nairobi, signaling the party’s growing footprint in Western Kenya.
Hon. Manyasi, a seasoned civil engineer and youth advocate with strong roots in Malava, has previously contested the seat in 2017 under Ford Kenya and in 2022 under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). With professional experience spanning Kenya and Uganda, Manyasi brings to the race a blend of technical expertise, public service, and grassroots engagement.
His nomination is seen as part of DNA’s broader strategy to present credible, community-grounded leadership in regions often sidelined by mainstream political narratives. Party leader Hon. Godfrey Kanoti emphasized that the move reflects DNA’s commitment to transformative politics.
“We are offering not just a candidate, but a movement,” Kanoti declared. “Hon. Manyasi stands for integrity, accountability, and citizen-led leadership. Malava deserves leadership that reflects the people’s voice and aspirations.”
Speaking during the press briefing,Manyasi struck a tone of humility and resolve, promising to champion inclusive governance and prioritize the needs of ordinary citizens.
“I come from the soil of Malava,” he stated. “I understand the daily struggles of our farmers, youth, and women. I’m not here to make promises I’m here to serve, listen, and act. This campaign is about dignity, voice, and real development.”
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) recently declared a vacancy in Malava, prompting preparations for a by-election expected later this year. The DNA party affirmed its intention to run a campaign focused on issues, civic engagement, and community dialogue rather than divisive politics.
The unveiling ceremony concluded with a symbolic handover of the party’s emblem to Hon. Manyasi, marking the official launch of his campaign.
As the political landscape in Western Kenya evolves, Manyasi’s candidacy under the DNA banner could reshape local dynamics and offer voters a new direction grounded in servant leadership and community-driven development.
