Britam Introduces Tailored Insurance Solutions for ICPAK Members

Britam General Insurance has deepened its push into Kenya’s professional services market through a partnership with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) that will provide more than 40,000 accountants with tailored insurance products.

The agreement gives ICPAK members access to medical insurance, professional indemnity cover, motor insurance and home insurance, as the insurer seeks to tap into growing demand for specialised risk protection among professionals.

The partnership comes at a time when accounting professionals are facing increasing exposure to operational, legal and financial risks, driving the need for comprehensive insurance solutions that protect both personal assets and professional practice.

Britam General Insurance Chief Executive Officer and Principal Officer James Mbithi said the collaboration reflects the company’s strategy of developing customer-centric products that address the evolving needs of Kenya’s professional workforce.

“Accounting professionals play a vital role in strengthening businesses, safeguarding financial integrity and supporting Kenya’s economic growth. The solutions provided through this partnership will not only protect their health and assets but also safeguard their professional practice against emerging risks,” Mr Mbithi said.

He added that the partnership is expected to enhance members’ financial security and enable them to focus on serving clients with greater confidence.

ICPAK Chief Executive Officer and Secretary to the Council, CPA Dr Grace Kamau, said the collaboration strengthens the institute’s member value proposition by improving access to quality insurance products designed for the accounting profession.

“Our members operate in a dynamic professional environment that requires reliable protection against a range of risks. This partnership with Britam ensures they have access to quality insurance solutions tailored to their needs,” Dr Kamau said.

The agreement underscores a growing trend where insurers are partnering with professional associations to offer sector-specific products, allowing them to expand market reach while addressing the unique risks faced by different professions.

For Britam, the collaboration reinforces its strategy of leveraging institutional partnerships to grow insurance penetration and diversify its customer base beyond traditional retail markets. It also reflects the increasing demand for professional indemnity and health cover as businesses and practitioners seek stronger financial protection in an increasingly complex operating environment.
