BEWARE OF FAKE SAFARICOM FREE MONEY MESSAGES

Scammers are now sending fake SMS messages claiming you have won free money from Safaricom. Many Kenyans have lost their M-PESA savings after clicking these links.

One common fake message looks like this:

[SCAM EXAMPLE]: “CONGRATULATIONS! Your number has won KES 25,000 in our Safaricom Pamoja Gift Promotion. Claim here: www.safaricom-free-gift-kenya.com”

This message is NOT from Safaricom. It is phishing.

Safaricom will never send you free money through a link from a personal number. Real messages from Safaricom only come from 444 or MPESA. Safaricom will also never ask for your M-PESA PIN, ID number, or ask you to share a message with 10 friends to get a reward.

These fake links are designed to steal your PIN and empty your M-PESA account.

How to protect yourself:

1. Do not click any suspicious link.
2. Never enter your M-PESA PIN on any website.
3. If you doubt a message, call Safaricom customer care on 100.
4. Report all scam messages by forwarding them for FREE to 333.
