Anti-Phishing Campaign Warns Public Against Fake Kenya Ports Authority Recruitment Scam
Members of the public have been urged to stay alert against online fraud following an anti-phishing sensitization and awareness campaign highlighting a fake Kenya Ports Authority recruitment message.
The campaign warns that fraudsters are circulating fake employment offers claiming successful applicants have been selected for administrative positions. The fraudulent messages direct victims to click suspicious links and provide sensitive personal information, including their national ID numbers, KRA PINs, bank account details, and M-Pesa PINs.
Cybersecurity advocates behind the campaign emphasized that genuine employers do not ask job applicants to disclose banking credentials or M-Pesa PINs during the recruitment process. They advised Kenyans to verify job advertisements through official channels before responding and to avoid clicking links from unknown or unverified sources.
The awareness drive also encourages the public to report suspicious messages and educate family members and friends about common phishing tactics. Organizers say increased public awareness remains one of the most effective ways to prevent online scams and protect personal and financial information from cybercriminals.
