HRMPEB releases first RPL cohort examination results
The Human Resource Management Professionals Examinations Board (HRMPEB) has officially released results for the first cohort of candidates assessed through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway leading to the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) qualification.
Speaking during the release of the August 2026 RPL examination results on Tuesday, September 15, HRMPEB chairperson Abdiwahab Abdi said the milestone marked a major step towards recognising skills and competencies acquired through workplace experience.
Abdi said 25 candidates were assessed between September 2025 and August 2026 through a rigorous process involving pre-screening, screening, assessment, verification and quality assurance.
“RPL does not provide an easier route to CHRP qualification. Rather, it provides an alternative route to demonstrating competence,” Abdi said.
RPL pathway targets experienced HR professionals
The chairman said HRMPEB had developed assessment tools, including an RPL policy, implementation guidelines, performance criteria, a logbook and marking schemes to ensure candidates demonstrate competencies that would ordinarily be acquired through formal classroom learning.

He said the tools were developed with the participation of RPL practitioners and industry experts and were designed to assess practical skills, knowledge and workplace experience.
According to Abdi, the RPL programme is also aligned with the Competency-Based Education (CBE) approach, which places greater emphasis on practical skills and competencies.
“The same professional standards must be met, regardless of whether a candidate acquires learning through formal education, workplace experience or the RPL pathway,” he said.
HRMPEB records 2,143 candidates
The development comes as HRMPEB recorded its highest-ever number of candidates in a single examination series, with 2,143 candidates sitting the August 2026 CHRP, CBET Diploma and Craft Certificate examinations.
The figure represented a three per cent increase from the April 2026 examination series, with women accounting for 1,697 candidates, or 79.19 per cent, compared with 446 men.
The examinations were administered across 20 centres between August 5 and 12, with 1,835 candidates sitting the CHRP examinations covering Parts I, II and III.
The Board has also introduced part certificates, allowing candidates who complete Parts I, II or III to receive certification for each milestone.
Board expands access to professional certification
Abdi said the RPL pathway would provide experienced HR practitioners with an opportunity to have competencies gained through years of professional practice formally recognised.
He said the process had been integrated into HRMPEB’s examination, assessment, certification and quality assurance systems to protect the credibility of the qualification.
“You are not merely recipients of examination results today. You are pioneers,” Abdi told the first RPL cohort, congratulating them for opening a new pathway for experienced HR professionals.
