Kibet leads 1-2 finish in men’s 5,000m at World U20 Championships

Kenya’s Frankline Kibet stormed to his first global track title after winning the men’s 5,000 metres at the World Athletics U20 Championships on Thursday, leading a Kenyan one-two finish.

Kibet clocked 13 minutes 28.27 seconds to take gold after producing a strong finishing kick, with compatriot Nehemiah Kipngeno securing silver in 13:30.09.

Ethiopia’s Damitew Kebede completed the podium, crossing the line in 13:35.38 to claim bronze.
