Ruto Votes as UDA Grassroots Elections Continue
President William Samoei Ruto on Tuesday took part in the ongoing United Democratic Alliance (UDA) grassroots elections at Koilelel Primary School, as the ruling party rolled out its nationwide internal polls.
The Head of State arrived at the polling centre in the morning and cast his vote alongside party members, in a move party officials said demonstrated UDA’s commitment to internal democracy and grassroots participation.
Speaking briefly to journalists after voting, President Ruto said strong grassroots leadership was critical to effective representation and service delivery. He called on party members to exercise restraint, maintain peace and respect the outcome of the elections.
The grassroots elections are being conducted countrywide to choose party officials at the polling centre, ward, constituency and county levels. UDA leaders say the process is intended to empower members and entrench democratic leadership from the lowest levels of the party.
Security was reinforced at the polling centre as party members turned up to vote, with electoral officials overseeing the exercise to ensure transparency and order.
The elections are expected to continue in several regions in the coming days before the party advances to the next phase of its internal electoral programme.
