Umoja Summit Party to Chart New Political Path in National Delegates Convention
The Umoja Summit Party is set to hold its National Delegates Convention (NDC) a gathering expected to shape the party’s roadmap ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking ahead of the conference, party officials emphasized a shift in political dynamics, stating that they intend to take proactive steps rather than react to external forces.
“We are no longer waiting for others to act while we react. This time, we are setting the agenda,” said a senior party official. “After deliberations at the NDC, we will issue a formal communication addressing key national concerns that require urgent action.”
Party founder Mama Naomi Sidi reflected on the party’s journey, noting its growth since fielding a presidential candidate in 2022. “We are among the few parties that had a presidential contender, elevating our political presence. Tomorrow marks the beginning of a structured plan for 2027, where we will field candidates from the presidency down to the MCA level in every county,” she stated.
Party leader Godfrey Kanoti underscored the urgency of the meeting, citing governance failures, rising youth unrest, and deteriorating public services.
“Kenya is at a critical juncture our systems are collapsing, youth are on the streets, the government is unresponsive, and public trust is eroding. We want to provide an alternative, a platform where young people and all citizens can voice their aspirations and take charge of their future,” Kanoti said.
Addressing questions on the party’s plans, officials affirmed that the NDC would open the floor for aspirants to declare interest in various positions. “We are ready for fair nominations. We are not in the business of speculation those who want to lead will step forward,” Kanoti added.
On policy direction, the party vowed to champion integrity in leadership, functional institutions, and genuine youth empowerment. “Kenyans deserve honest leaders. We are tired of a government that thrives on deception. We want a leadership that works, where ministers are accountable nationwide, not just to their regions,” said a party representative.
With a promise to challenge the status quo, Moja Summit officials assured that tomorrow’s NDC would mark a turning point, signaling the start of a transformative political movement.
