TNH Charts New Path with Transparency, Modernisation, and Quality Healthcare
The Nairobi Hospital (TNH) has moved to dispel public speculation over its financial standing, assuring stakeholders of its resilience, continued growth, and commitment to delivering world-class healthcare.
Addressing a joint press briefing of the Board of Management and the Board of Trustees on Monday, hospital leadership emphasised that the institution remains financially sound and fully operational, despite a legal petition filed by creditor Opticom Kenya Ltd.
“All staff salaries, supplier obligations, and investments are being met without disruption,” CEO Felix Osano said, stressing that the matter is before court and constructive engagement with the creditor is ongoing.

Mr. Osano highlighted the hospital’s robust internal revenue generation, revealing that more than KSh 1.5 billion has been channelled into infrastructure upgrades without relying on loans.
These investments include six state-of-the-art labour and delivery suites, a 256-slice AI-enabled CT scanner, and the region’s first biplane catheterisation laboratory within a laminar flow theatre suite at the hospital’s new Cardiac Centre.
“Each of these projects expands our capacity, improves patient outcomes, and strengthens our leadership in specialised care,” he stated.
The CEO also addressed recent tariff adjustments that had sparked tension with some insurance partners. In July, the hospital introduced an average 5 percent increase in service charges after a cost analysis and benchmarking exercise. However, following constructive dialogue, the adjustments were rescinded, and services reverted to pre-adjustment rates.
“This decision reflects mutual goodwill and our unwavering commitment to patients while safeguarding service quality,” Mr. Osano noted.
On governance reforms, Board Chairman Dr. Barcley Onyambu acknowledged past shortcomings by previous boards, which had exposed the institution to reputational and financial risks.
He assured stakeholders that the current leadership is united in implementing strong accountability measures and prudent decision-making.
Dr. Onyambu further disclosed that recent court-imposed restrictions had been lifted, paving the way for renewed infrastructure and equipment investments.
“This is more than a legal victory; it is a turning point that demonstrates our stability and reinforces our capacity to deliver on our mission,” he said.
As the hospital continues its modernisation programme, its leadership reiterated a steadfast commitment to transparency, excellence, and patient-centred care, positioning The Nairobi Hospital as a trusted pillar in Kenya’s healthcare sector.
