Serem Leads Kenyan Clean Sweep in Commonwealth Games Steeplechase

Edmond Serem led a memorable Kenyan clean sweep in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, delivering a commanding performance to secure the gold medal.

Serem stormed to victory in 8:18.23, while compatriot Simon Koech followed closely to take silver in 8:18.59. Leonard Bett completed the podium sweep, clocking 8:21.63 to win bronze as Kenya celebrated a remarkable 1-2-3 finish in one of its signature track events.

The clean sweep reaffirmed Kenya’s dominance in the steeplechase, an event the country has ruled for decades through generations of world-class athletes.

Earlier Africa 10000m champion Diana Wanza Settles for Silver in women’s 10,000m , Wanza looked poised to add gold to Kenya’s growing tally before Australia’s Rose Davies outsprint  her in the final stretch. Wanza held on for silver as she missed out on gold.
