Safaricom Empowers Youth with Second Edition of ‘Safaricom Hook Circle’ at Kenyatta University

Safaricom (NSE: SCOM), through its youth platform Safaricom Hook, has launched the second edition of its youth empowerment bootcamp, Safaricom Hook Circle, at Kenyatta University Main Campus.
The two-day event, running from February 27-28, targets over 2,000 students and more than 200,000 virtual participants. It aims to equip young people with essential skills in technology, career development, and cultural entrepreneurship.
“Safaricom Hook Circle aims to connect youth all over Kenya to opportunities that will propel them to succeed in their area of interest. In collaboration with our partners, we are looking to build on the success of the first edition held in Chuka last year, where we had great engagements around financial literacy, tech-forward upskilling, career readiness, and culture as a form of expression and income,” said Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business Officer, Safaricom PLC.
Empowering Youth Through Three Key Pillars including culture,Technology and Career Hook.
Culture Hook:Partners such as Baze Radio, Boomplay, and Outlook will provide masterclasses on monetizing content and breaking into industries like gaming, art, and fashion.
Technology Hook:Tech giants including Huawei, Transsion, Google – Gemini, and Power Learn Project will equip participants with digital skills, with 500 software development scholarships available through the Safaricom Hook Circle series.
Career Hook:Industry leaders like Brighter Monday, Wowzi, Trace Academia, Avunja, and Twiva will offer insights into career advancement and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Recognizing the importance of mental health and financial literacy, the event will also feature sessions by Chiromo Hospital, Absa’s Ready to Work Program, and Old Mutual.
As part of the event, Safaricom will award a brand-new Suzuki Alto to the final winner of the Wai Ndai campaign, a gaming challenge launched last year. The competition has engaged customers with various puzzle, arcade, and action games, offering daily cash vouchers worth Sh500,000 and a monthly Suzuki Alto grand prize.
With a strong focus on equipping young people with relevant skills and opportunities, Safaricom Hook Circle continues to shape the future of Kenya’s youth.
