Rusinga Schools Golden Jubilee Marks 50 Years of Innovation
Rusinga Schools Golden Jubilee celebrations drew hundreds Wednesday as the institution marked 50 years of Christian-based learning, steady growth, and rising investment in education technology at Nairobi Baptist Church, Dec. 3, 2025.
School leaders said the milestone highlights a long journey driven by faith, innovation, and community. They added that the next chapter aims to accelerate technology adoption, expand STEAM spaces, and strengthen values-based education.
A year of celebration and a vision for the future
Rusinga Schools closed its year-long Golden Jubilee program with an announcement that an innovation hub is now in development. Leaders said the hub will host robotics, digital creativity, coding, and AI-focused learning. They explained that the project signals a major shift toward future-ready education.
The school also launched a student-driven artificial intelligence program this year. Teachers said the initiative gives learners early exposure to emerging technology. Administrators said the effort supports long-term goals to turn the institution into a center of tech-enabled teaching.
School leadership reflects on 50 years
Headteacher Juma Nyamori said the Golden Jubilee marks a moment to honor past growth and prepare for the next phase.
“This Golden Jubilee is a celebration of the thousands of lives transformed through academic excellence and holistic learning,†Nyamori said. “It is also a moment to boldly step into the future through modern innovations that address emerging needs in education. Our Ed-Tech program, especially the progressive AI learning project, reaffirms our commitment to preparing learners for a changing world driven by technology and creativity.â€

Nyamori said his 17 years at Rusinga Schools have shown him how quickly the institution has expanded. He said the vision set by the founders, Dr. Jacob Mwangi and Rose Mwangi, continues to guide decisions rooted in Christian values, academic focus, and steady development.
He also said humility and consistent leadership are key to sustaining growth. He noted that former school leaders prepared a strong foundation for new investment in artificial intelligence, innovation design, and learning tools that support students beyond physical classrooms. He added that the AI platform now active within the school offers round-the-clock learning support.
Looking ahead, Nyamori said he hopes to see Rusinga Schools expand its campus footprint, build a leadership center, and support Christian-led organizations and family-founded institutions.
Church leaders honor long partnership
Nairobi Baptist Church pastor Benjamin Wambugu said Rusinga Schools reflects what Christian-centered learning can achieve.
“Rusinga Schools stands as a testimony of what Christian education can achieve when it is grounded in values and ethos,†he said. “As we join Rusinga in celebrating its Golden Jubilee, we honor a story that reflects God’s faithfulness and the dedication of teachers, parents and learners.â€
Alumni share stories of impact
Music artist and alumnus Lisa Oduor-Noah said Rusinga Schools shaped her growth.
“Rusinga Schools shaped me in more ways than I could ever fully articulate,†she said. “It was here that I learned to dream, to express myself, and to believe.â€
Oduor-Noah said the institution helped her form the values and confidence that influence her creative work today.
Preparatory school leaders highlight innovation
Head of Preparatory School Julius Karanja, who has served for 27 years, said the future depends on embracing technology and shifting learning methods.

He said the new innovation hub is one of the most ambitious projects in the school’s history. He added that the Council of International Schools accreditation process supports the push for global standards.
Karanja said classrooms now use flexible layouts that allow students to take greater control of their learning. Teachers act more as facilitators as students research, explore, and design solutions using digital tools.
Community unites for the milestone
Alumni, parents, students, teachers, church partners and guests attended the celebration. School leaders said the turnout showed how deeply the institution is rooted in its community.
They added that the next five years will focus on strengthening STEAM programs, improving digital learning ecosystems, and expanding opportunities in creative arts. They said the goal is to ensure students remain competitive in a connected world.
A steady course into the next 50 years
As Rusinga Schools looks ahead, administrators said the focus remains on innovation, Christian values, and holistic growth. They said the Golden Jubilee marks both a celebration and a turning point for the institution’s future.
The school plans to expand its programs, deepen partnerships, and invest in systems that support continuous learning. Leaders said Rusinga Schools intends to shape students who can excel in technology, service, leadership, and global fields.
They said the story of Rusinga Schools continues to evolve, guided by faith, community, and strong commitment to education.
