Kiprotich,Chebet winners of betika kapsabet 15km road race
Amos Kiprotich and Miriam Chebet produced fine displays to emerge winners of the Betika 15K Road Race held in Kapsabet, Nandi County.
Kiprotich, the reigning Techrun champion, clocked 44 minutes, 22.0 seconds to win a tightly contested men’s race that started at Roseve and ended at the Eliud Kipchoge Complex Stadium.
He edged out Philemon Rono, the Toronto Waterfront Marathon champion, who posted 44:22.6, while Dennis Kipkurui came third in 44:23.1 in one of the closest finishes of the day.
“It was a very tactical race. I worked hard to win and my preparation at the Discovery Cross Country really boosted my training,” said Kiprotich after the race.

Cyrus Kipkemoi finished fourth in 44:24.1, Justus Kiprop was fifth in 44:37.1, as Alfred Chelal sealed sixth place in 44:40.9.
In the women’s race, Siaya Bigwa Fest champion Miriam Chebet underlined her rising profile by clocking 49:33.4 to claim victory.
Judy Jepngetich took second place in 50:01.6 while Maryah Njoki completed the podium in 50:11.5.
Chebet, who hails from Mt Elgon, attributed her success to consistent participation in Betika-sponsored events.
“I am happy I won today. I was well prepared since I started competing in Betika events like Bigwa Fest, which has really helped me grow from an upcoming athlete. Now I am progressing well,” she said.

Brenda Jepchumba finished fourth in 50:27.5, Janet Jepkoech placed fifth in 50:45.2, and Jedidah Sang came sixth in 51:16.3.
