Former HomaBay Chief of Staff Dismissed Over Sexual Harassment Allegations

Former Homabay Chief of Staff Charles Odhiambo

Homa Bay County Governor Gladys Wanga has dismissed Chief of Staff Charles Odhiambo following multiple allegations of sexual harassment involving junior staff members and interns.

Odhiambo, a former head of station at Ramogi FM, has faced mounting accusations of inappropriate conduct, with reports indicating that he used his position to solicit sexual favors from female colleagues.

Sources within the county government allege that he frequently made suggestive remarks and engaged in improper relationships with junior staff, tarnishing the integrity of his office.

Governor Wanga, in a letter dated March 28, 2025, cited gross misconduct, unethical behavior, and insubordination as grounds for Odhiambo’s termination.

According to insider reports, at least 17 complaints have been lodged against him by victims from the County Executive, County Assembly, and the governor’s private office in Nairobi.

His dismissal follows a heated confrontation involving the husband of a junior employee, who reportedly discovered explicit messages allegedly sent by Odhiambo to his wife. The incident led to his absence from work since March 4, 2025.

His prolonged absence further cemented the governor’s decision to terminate his services. The termination letter, signed by Governor Wanga, emphasizes the need for public servants to uphold the Constitution, the Leadership and Integrity Act, and the Public Service Code of Conduct.

Odhiambo has been directed to return all county government property in his possession. He will receive his salary up to the date of termination, one month’s salary in lieu of notice, and accrued gratuity.

This decision underscores the county government’s zero-tolerance stance on workplace misconduct, particularly in matters concerning sexual harassment and abuse of power.
