Babu Owino Confident of Nairobi Support as He Reveals 2027 and 2032 Political Plans
Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has declared that he will not bow to political pressure or seek political favors from anyone as he continues to position himself for higher leadership. The outspoken legislator said his political journey has always been guided by the trust and support of the people, adding that he remains committed to serving Kenyans through accountable and transformative leadership.
Speaking confidently about his political future, Babu said he believes the people of Nairobi have confidence in his leadership and ability to deliver results. He stated that he has no intention of kneeling before any political leader in pursuit of opportunities, emphasizing that leadership should be earned through service, integrity, and the confidence of the electorate.
The lawmaker, however, made it clear that he continues to respect Raila Amolo Odinga, describing him as the only political leader he has looked up to throughout his political career. Babu said his respect for Raila remains firm because of the significant role the veteran politician has played in shaping Kenya’s democratic journey and inspiring many young leaders across the country.
According to Babu, his relationship with Raila is built on respect and shared values rather than political convenience. He noted that while he respects the former Prime Minister, he remains an independent leader who believes in making decisions that serve the interests of the people who elected him.
The Embakasi East MP also announced that he intends to contest the Nairobi gubernatorial seat during the 2027 General Election. He expressed confidence that Nairobi residents will support his bid based on his track record of development and service delivery in Embakasi East Constituency.
Babu said his performance as Member of Parliament has demonstrated his ability to deliver meaningful projects and improve the lives of ordinary citizens. He pointed out that the people of Embakasi East have elected him for two consecutive terms, describing this as a clear indication that voters appreciate his leadership and have confidence in his ability to represent them effectively.
He stated that the trust he has earned from his constituents gives him the confidence to seek a larger leadership role within Nairobi County. According to him, the experience he has gained in Parliament and at the constituency level has prepared him to tackle the challenges facing the capital city.
Babu further revealed that his political ambitions extend beyond the Nairobi governorship. He said that if elected Governor in 2027, he plans to serve only one term before pursuing the presidency in the 2032 General Election.
He explained that his long term vision is to provide leadership that focuses on development, accountability, and the welfare of ordinary Kenyans. He added that serving as Governor would give him an opportunity to implement policies and programs that could transform Nairobi while preparing him for national leadership.
The legislator expressed confidence that many Kenyans, particularly young people, are ready for a new generation of leaders who understand the challenges facing the country. He argued that the youth make up the largest percentage of the country’s population and deserve leadership that reflects their aspirations, energy, and desire for change.
Babu said young people are increasingly demanding leaders who are accessible, accountable, and committed to solving issues such as unemployment, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment. He maintained that his leadership style aligns with these expectations because it focuses on practical solutions and measurable results.
He also said that his political vision is centered on creating opportunities for young people while promoting transparency, good governance, and inclusive development. According to him, Kenya has enormous potential that can only be realized through visionary leadership that prioritizes the interests of citizens above political competition.
Addressing his critics, Babu dismissed negative comments and political attacks directed at him. He said criticism is a normal part of public life and that he will not allow political opponents to distract him from pursuing his goals.
The MP maintained that his focus remains on serving the people and fulfilling the promises he has made to his constituents. He added that political attacks should not prevent leaders from concentrating on development and delivering services to the public.
Babu emphasized that leadership is not about seeking approval from influential individuals but about earning the trust and confidence of the people through consistent service and tangible results. He said leaders should remain accountable to citizens because they are the ones who ultimately determine the future of the country’s leadership.
As he looks ahead to the 2027 General Election and beyond, Babu expressed optimism about his political future. He reiterated that his journey is only beginning and that he remains determined to continue serving Kenyans at higher levels of leadership if given the opportunity.
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the people of Nairobi and Kenya, saying he will continue working toward what he described as a better future founded on effective leadership, development, and public service. He said he trusts the people and believes that the people also trust him, expressing confidence that they will continue supporting his political journey in the years ahead.
